Michael Eavis, Mike Tindall and Racing Cars...

on .

Mike Tindall and Bristol City's East End is no more. More Pictures below...

Last couple of weeks has seen me shooting a fair amount of sports photography around the region. Both, local rugby and football clubs are having their last hooray, with seasons coming to an end in lovely spring sunshine.  Bristol City’s last game held an emotional resonance as it was the last home game before the old East End is demolished, and work can start on the new stadium.  I’ve stood there man and boy through the ups and downs of first division success and 3rd division relegation.  It was sad but poignant afternoon, sugarcoated with Division 1 safety and spring sunshine.

A  few days later I traveled to the Castle Combe race circuit to photograph Formula 4  driver Roger Orgee and his Weston College sponsored racing car.  The team we busy adjusting brakes when I arrived, so it gave me an opportunity to take a closer look at the car. It didn’t take me long to decide that I’d really rather be photographing the cars than driving them . They certainly aren’t built for comfort, the  main body of the car seems to be made of plastic and your bum seems to be only inches for hard concrete.  Think I’ll stick to my Ford Mondeo.

Last Saturday saw me shooting Rugby at the lively Kingsholm stadium, home to the cherry and black Gloucester Rugby team. I love the atmosphere at Rugby grounds on match days. It’s very family, very friendly and the beer flows with no hint of trouble. The game went well. I was shooting for the club so I was briefed to photograph at both corporate and action, sending pics throughout the match to keep up with deadlines.  It’s hard work but fun. The afternoon was topped off by getting shots of Mike Tindall carrying his baby, Mia, around in a lap of honour. It made a great pic and was just in time to the Sunday newspapers. Also had fun shoots for Thatchers cider in Somerset and London photography with Michael Eavis who helped to launch Thatchers exciting announcement that they will be the main cider supplier at this years Glastonbury Festival (i'll be there in my Wellies :-) and River Cottage head chef Tim Maddams who helped to launch Thatchers food pairing campaign with Gujarati chef Bini Ludlow. Also squeezed in fun magazine shoots in South Wales and Swindon.
